COSC 575: Machine Learning
Presentation Guidelines
The presentation should give a technical overview of the study.
As with the paper, the presentation should
answer the following questions:
- What specific problem did you address?
- Why is this problem important for the field?
- How have others attempted to address this problem?
- How have these attempts fallen short?
- How did you approach the problem?
- What is your research hypothesis?
- What experiment(s) did you conduct to support your hypothesis?
- What algorithms/methods/systems did you use?
- What data set(s) did you use?
- How did evaluate your system?
- What metrics did you use to measure performance?
- Do the results support the research hypothesis, and why?
- What are the broader impacts of the results of the study?
The presentation should run no more than 15 minutes, and a general
rule of thumb is to have roughly one slide for every two minutes.
